John Morogiello is a Playwright in Residence at the Maryland State Arts Council.  Plays include Blame It On Beckett (off-Broadway at Abingdon Theatre Company), Engaging Shaw (Vienna’s English Theatre, Old Globe Theatre, Abingdon Theatre Company), Stonewall’s Bust (Mountain Playhouse), Irish Authors Held Hostage (Greenwich Street Theatre in NYC, J.T. Burian Theatricals,  Edinburgh’s Bedlam Theatre), Men and Parts (Actors Theatre of Louisville, Shadowbox Cabaret), Gianni Schicchi (Rep Stage, Center Stage), The Matchmaker’s Guide to Controlling the Elements (National Theatre, 2Co’s Cabaret, Alleyway Theatre), Chancellorsville (Kennedy Center, Canadian Stage Company).  Awards include:  The Kennedy Center Fellowship of the Americas, Mountain Playhouse International Comedy Playwriting Award, and Baltimore Magazine’s “1996 Best Up and Coming Playwright.”  Mr. Morogiello is a regular contributor to Flagpole Radio Cafe and The Washington Independent Review of Books.  Other articles have been published in American Theatre, Dramatics, and in programs and study guides for Long Wharf Theatre, Huntington Theatre Company, Everyman Theatre, and Belmont Playhouse. Play publications include Larry’s Resolution, The Periodontal Blues and The Little Farmer (all by One Act Play Depot), and appearances in several anthologies from other publishers.
